Southwestern Native American Sterling Silver Bear Paw Print Overlay Belt Buckle
Old southwestern Native American Indian Sterling silver bear paw print overlay belt buckle, unmarked. This vintage buckle showcases a well-crafted bear paw print overlay with geometrical designs common in Hopi silver work. The bottom layer of silver was nicely etched for texture, also a Hopi signature. This piece is about 2" wide by 1 3/16" tall, and weighs approximately 23.5 grams. The swivel keeper should be able to accommodate a 3/4 belt strap. Ex ceptional silver work and very dark patina. Note: this piece is slightly uneven, and the silver has a tiny hairline on the back near one end of the swivel keeper. There are also 3 dents along the edge, and one of the corners curves inward a bit. The price reflects these above mentioned conditions. Please see pictures for more details.
