Famously known as the Happy Hopi, Fermin has been a silver artist for over 20 years.He was taught the craft by his acclaimed father Billy Rae Hawee, and studied at the Hopi Silvercraft Guild Cooperative. This excellent example of his work depicts a snarling bear, standing over a kiva offering of cornmeal and bird feathers.
He is surrounded by a stylized bear paw, which is framed by rain and cloud symbols, and rendered in 18 gage sterling. Included are 2 sterling silver tips, works of art as well, depicting rain and cloud symbols.
It weighs 41 grams and is signed with Fermin's hallmark, a rabbit track. Fermin has repeatedly won awards at both the Hopi Show and the Heard, in Phoenix.
