Sterling Silver Overlay Belt Buckle. 3.0" X 2.0". Will accept a belt of up to 1.5. Grams = 3.55 Troy ounces.Large Navajo Sterling Silver Triple-Turquoise Buckle. This Large Sterling Silver Belt Buckle was made by a talented Navajo artist using 3 wonderful Gem-Grade Turquoise cabochons that have lots of contrasting Matrix. It is not signed with a signature mark depicting the maker on reverse of the buckle. It is not stamped Sterling but is guaranteed to be Sterling Silver. It has no tarnish on the reverse and the front of the buckle. In the pictures, the buckle looks as it may have been never worn and has none of the typical belt strap rub marks or any other evidence of wear. It is pre-owned and looks magnificent because I just gave it a good polishing with a cloth... There are no dents or scratches, etc. And there is nothing to report on the Turquoise other than the imperfections and personality of spectacular specimens. The stones are of a high quality Turquoise and are most likely from a Nevada Mine. I find it very interesting because two of the Cabochons are recessed below the Inlayed layer and the smallest one "Stands proud" of it. The bezel work is sublime and it is much more interesting than any traditional "Shadow Box" design that I can imagine for these wonderful stones. It looks and feels just right! If you are looking for a "Knockout" belt buckle with dramatic Turquoise stone accents, I believe you you will be pleased.
Hello, Insane no, funny yes! No it is not an optical illusion... The measuring mats are made that way.If I Put the buckle on the corner of it, it would be hard to read. I believe the Turquoise is natural. In any event, thank you very much! Kevin in Tucson PS For the reason you mentioned, I also use jewelers caliper measurements and a Quarter and US Bill.
Hi-- Do you know anything about the provenance of this piece? And do you know if the stones are completely natural or have been stabilized in any way? Last, the description says it's 2x3, but the grid looks more like 3x4. Please confirm that I'm not insane there. As the Navajo say, "Walk in Beauty".
